Memória de Elefante and Os Cus de Judas are two of António Lobo Antunes’ masterpieces, the first written by the Portuguese writer, published for the first time in 1979, and both performed by a doctor and told in the first person. After 40 years, the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, together with Don Quixote/Leya publishers, highlights this date with a colloquium – António Lobo Antunes: 40 Anos de Vida Literária – to remember two of the author's most memorable books. The event will take place at the Auditorium 2 at Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, on 28th September and, throughout the day, it will be possible to hear interventions such as Bernard Henry-Lévy, Dinu Flamand, Mircea Martin, Dominique Nédellec, Vicenzo Russo, Knut Cordsen, Daniel Sampaio, Nuno Lobo Antunes, Ana Paula Arnaut, Norberto do Vale Cardoso, Sérgio Guimarães de Sousa, Maria Alzira Seixo and Guilherme D'Oliveira Martins. In the Hall of the General Secretariat of the Congress, at the Fundação, a facility of the two masterpieces will be set. The President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, will be at the opening session, together with the president of Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Isabel Mota, but the highest moment of the initiative will be around 06.00pm, when some excerpts from Os Cus de Judas will be heard through the voice of the author himself. The entrance will be free.
