Known for being one of the most prestigious golf courses, both nationally and internationally, the Vidago Palace Golf Course was the venue chosen for the first stage of the Villas&Golfe International Cup circuit, on October 05, 2019. Built in 1936, the Par 72 course boasts a unique natural beauty and was the stage for another successful event.
Fine play and golfing spirit made themselves felt in a glamorous setting. For another year in a row, Villas&Golfe magazine gathered partners and friends for this event. Between the picturesque valley, the tees and the elevated greens, around 70 participants had the opportunity to enjoy another day of exciting golf, unforgettable conviviality, without forgetting the natural and iconic surroundings of the century-old hotel, which, for its part, celebrated its 109th anniversary with us.
As has been the case in previous years, the match began at 9.00 am, in an Individual Stableford event, followed by lunch at the clubhouse and the prize-giving ceremony. And there were many prizes awarded in this tournament. 1st place in the net category went to José Nuno Braga - 42 points; 2nd place went to Rui António Sousa Cunha - 39 points; and 3rd went to Sérgio Jesus Trocado - 39 points. In the gross category, the winner was Abílio Gonçalves - 33 points; 2nd place went to Rafael Martins - 32 points; and third place went to Luís Teixeira - 30 points. In the special categories, the men’s Longest Drive went to Manuel Au-Yong Oliveira and in the ladies’ equivalent, Elsa Monteiro took the prize. The men’s Nearest to the Pin was awarded to Jorge Torres, while in the ladies’ event Cláudia Pereira proved triumphant.
This mythical course, with challenging bunkers, usually hosts national and international championships. And, once again, the Villas&Golfe International Cup was able to provide golfing fans with a memorable and fun-filled day.
This was another golf tournament organised by PM Media Corporate. On November 30, Polana Golf Course, in Maputo, Mozambique, hosted the second stage of the circuit – a high-profile event.
