The Yeatman, a luxury wine hotel located in Vila Nova de Gaia, was one of the great winners of the prizes awarded by the English magazine World of Fine wine, getting the distinctions for Melhor Carta Regional de Vinhos do Mundo (best Regional Wine List in the world), Melhor Carta Regional de Vinhos da Europa (Best Regional Wine List in Europe), Carta de Vinhos 3 Estrelas (3 stars wine list) and Prémio do Júri (Jury prize). Worthy of distinction, the «Wine Book», as Yeatman’s wine list is nicknamed, has more than 1500 references, from which 97% are national wines. Assuming itself as a time machine, listing various crops, special formats and limited editions and retreating years or even decades, the «Wine Book» seeks to portrait the sensory profile of the current 105 national wine partners of the hotel. Jan-Erik Ringertz, the director of The Yeatman, explains that «it is a pride to receive this international distinction that consolidates our reputation and recognizes the seriousness, rigour and commitment of teams that work on a daily basis. This distinction, which is regarded as the sommelier version of Michelin stars, makes you guess the exclusive experience we intend to offer to those who visit us». Moreover, Beatriz Machado, Yeatman’s wines director proudly said: «We have confirmed that originality associated with the high level of rigour, knowledge and professionalism that we daily impose leads us to good port! Together we create the best wine anthology in a country, with a single goal: to demystify the Portuguese wine, giving it the leading role it deserves». The awards ceremony for the best wine lists in the world took place on September 10th in London.
