Competing for the first time at the Berliner Wine Trophy (BWT), in Germany the Vidago Villa wines are once again causing a stir. The Vidago Villa Grande Reserva Red 2018 and the Vidago Villa Grande Reserva White 2020 were both entered into the competition. And both won the Gold Medal. This competition, which is known for being one of the most influential competitions and one of the biggest international wine challenges in the world, had wines from all over the world under the microscope – almost 15,000 sample entries each year. The first edition of this year’s BWT brought together well-known producers and distributors from the world of wine, in what is one of the largest wine competitions in the world, under the patronage of the OIV (International Organisation of Vine and Wine). The Portuguese wines taking part in the competition were highlighted by the two Vidago Villa wines, from the Trás-os-Montes region, revealing once again the unique terroir of the Vidago region, where the estate is located.
