The personality and the lifestyle of the client, as well as the requirements of the space, are its main inspiration, but the guiding principle that defines all projects by Atelier Cristina Jorge de Carvalho is based on the balance between purified lines and the intelligent interplay of volumes, materials and textures: an eclectic and contemporary approach, where the simplicity of design and comfort come together in harmony.
Atelier Cristina Jorge de Carvalho – Architecture & Interior Design was founded in 2000 and since then many of its projects, which include private residences, hotels, commercial spaces, among others, have been awarded and mentioned in respected national and international publications. One of these awards, Best Architecture Single Residence Portugal, was given to Casa Algarve, a luxury villa for which the Atelier CJC was involved in the architecture and the interior design. The outdoor spaces, which include a swimming pool, a large deck area and a lounge area, with an outdoor fireplace, are combined with a contemporary house comprising two-volumes: one clad in stone, referring to the pre-existing structure of former times, and another, built for this project, overlapping the first, aligned towards the sea. The clean and simple interior spaces feature a selection and combination of materials and textures that convey elegance and timelessness.

In the decoration of an apartment in Lisbon, for the most part Atelier CJC followed the neutral colour palette of the architecture, yet with a few splashes of colour and creating contrast through the combination of materials. While its architecture favours cold materials, the decoration project brought comfort through woods, upholstery, silk and wool rugs, etc.
Comfort was also one of the CJC Atelier’s premises in the development of the interior design project for an apartment in the Estoril Sol Residence. But comfort was coupled with a young and contemporary concept, materialised in the bold colours and the eclectic blend of design pieces, as well as impressive artworks, which gain even more prominence with the generous shafts of light, flooding the apartment.
Located on the fourth floor of a beautiful building from the late 19th century, on the Rua Alexandre Herculano, in Lisbon, the CJC Showroom presents the Cristina Jorge de Carvalho - Furniture Collection, as well as pieces from international furniture brands, and a selection of pieces and decorative objects carefully chosen from antique shops around the world, which can be bought directly in this space.
