Its long awaited debut is on 11th September at Teatro da Trindade, in Lisbon. We’re talking about Chicago, one of the most successful musicals in the world, based on a play with the same name, written by the reporter Maurine Dallas Watkins. The plot takes place in last century’s roaring 20’s and tells us the story of two rivals of vaudeville, accused of murder. The original production, choreographed by Bob Fosse, had its premiere on Broadway in 1975 and had more than 900 performances, travelled around more than 24 countries and was played in 12 different languages.
This time, the production is in charge of Teatro da Trindade INATEL and Força de Produção and the actors on stage will be Gabriela Barros, Soraia Tavares, Miguel Raposo, José Raposo, Catarina Guerreiro, Ana Cloe, Carlota Carreira, Catarina Alves, Filipa Peraltinha, Leonor Rolla, Mariana da Silva, Sofia Loureiro, David Bernardino, Gonçalo Cabral, João Lopes, JP Costa, Pedro Gomes e Ricardo Lima. The direction will be Diogo Infante’s. «For a few years I'd been thinking about Chicago until I came across Sandra Faria, from Força de Produção, and she challenged me to raise the project. Its Premiere will be on 11th September and was never produced in Portugal up till now. It will be a new and original version. All those who have seen the show elsewhere, will see that ours is not anything like it», says the actor, director and also artistic director of Teatro da Trindade.
