Its main ingredient is wine, however, Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo is also a true showcase of the diversity of products and flavours from the Douro region. It was opened in 2012 and the project was conceived by Luisa Amorim, inspired by the ‘best cellar restaurants’ of some of the major wine regions of the world, such as Napa Valley, in California, or Stellenbosch, in South Africa. Conceitus Winery Restaurant has the main mission to celebrate the art of fine living in Portugal, through authentic, tasty gastronomic and textured suggestions that enrich mother nature’s diversity on a plate. The dedication to the region and the deep respect for origin have given it the title of best restaurant in the Douro region by Financial Times, as well as several citations of the influential Condé Nast Traveller, particularly for it «exceptional food». In the kitchen, running a highly professional team, there is Chef André Carvalho, who celebrates his passion for the earth every single day, tuned to the no less passionate oenologist Jorge Alves. This talented duo designs each season, the fabulous menus, always in harmony with the wines produced at Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo.
