The 6th Edition of the marathon of health, this year with the
slogan «Meet cancer», was broadcast live in RTP 1 and RTP International the RDP
International, Antena 1, 2 and 3 and the Health Channel, which also joined this
issue on March 29. Partner of the event since its first edition, Portugal
Altice Foundation secured the telephone lines raising donations, through a value-added
line and two call centres, where more than 70 volunteers from Portugal Altice,
public figures and scientists who ensured the assistance of the telephone
helping line.
The Telethon, which was for several consecutive hours of live broadcast in RTP, was presented by Sónia Araújo and Jorge Gabriel, who joined many faces from RTP, musicians, real life witnesses, associations of patients, doctors, scientists and Health-Marathon partners. Beyond awareness and specific information on cancer, this initiative raised about €50,000 that will support scientific research of excellence in the area of cancer in Portugal. According to Maria de Belém Roseira, President of the Marathon of health, this initiative «bet a lot on the ability to finance our scientists in research fields that will help us control and combat diseases».
