For over three centuries, the city has been home to old British families dedicated to the port wine trade, leaving their discreet mark on the city. Taking inspiration from this connection, The Yeatman combines the Portuguese art of fine hospitality with a British atmosphere of classic and discreet comfort. The result is timeless elegance, endless details and a discreet, attentive service.
Offering superb views over the River Douro and the riverfront neighbourhood of Oporto, The Yeatman is located in the centre of one of the most important European wine capitals, a few steps away from the famous port wine cellars, which is why one of its main purposes is to provide sophisticated wine and gastronomic experiences. And we’ll get right to that, but beforehand, it has to be said that this elegant luxury wine hotel, a Relais & Châteaux member, also reflects the culture and authenticity of the region in which it is located, promoting the destination, the city of Oporto and the country.
The Yeatman boasts 109 stunning rooms and suites, decorated in a classic style and customised with features alluding to the world of wine and to its wine partners. Each one has a large private terrace that opens onto the River Douro and Oporto’s cityscape.
The pools, the gardens, the 13 function rooms, the Kids Club, the library, Dick’s Bar, the gym and the Caudalie Vinothérapie® Spa provide more than enough reasons to make you want to stay, but there are more. As an ambassador of the best Portuguese wines, The Yeatman gives prime importance to the combination of gastronomy and wine. A range of menus and an award-winning wine list, care of Wine Director, Beatriz Machado, allow you to discover a great diversity of taste harmonies and contrasts on a journey through Portugal’s various wine regions. The gastronomy comes care of award-winning chef Ricardo Costa, who advocates an imaginative cuisine, in which traditional Portuguese flavours are reinterpreted. This unique and exquisite union between gastronomy and wine has already earned the Restaurante Gastronómico two Michelin stars. The Yeatman, however, has 5 stars and would have even more, if it depended on the opinion of everyone who is left enchanted by the spirit of wine, the city and the country.
