Each year the Concurso de Vinhos de Portugal – the Portuguese Wine Competitoon – singles out the best Portuguese wines. The last edition took place at the beginning of May. And among the 36 Premium Gold medals, the Douro region stood out, with 14 medals awarded, followed by the Alentejo, with seven, and the Dão region, with three. But the big surprise was Quinta Vidago Villa, which won the only Premium Gold medal for the Trás-os-Montes region, with its Vidago Villa Tinto Grande Reserva 2018 wine. With more than 1450 wines competing – the highest number since the creation of this event –, the assessment was made by national and international juries, made up of specialists in this sector. The winners were presented at the awards ceremony, held on May 06, at the Convento de S. Francisco, in Santarém. There were 107 wines awarded in the Goldcategory and 301 in the Silver category.
