Engineers at German carmaker BMW have taken inspiration from the screens used in e-book readers to develop a car that changes colour in line with the driver’s wishes. The technology, which uses E Ink (electronic ink), was presented at the Consumer Electronics Show, the annual consumer technology fair held in Las Vegas, USA. The body of the BMW IX Flow switches between black and white at the touch of a button. For now, the aim is to show that the technology exists. Not least because, before reaching consumers, it will have to be discussed with the relevant authorities as to its legality.
