Hugo Madeira

CEO of the ‘Clínica Dr. Hugo Madeira’

After working for three years in some leading health organisations and with a vast amount of training behind him, focused primarily on the field of implantology, Hugo Madeira decided, in 2009, to set up his own project: the ‘Clínica de Implantologia Avançada Dr. Hugo Madeira’. With more than ten years of experience, Hugo retains the same fascination for smiles and the same desire to make them healthier and more beautiful, making use of advanced technology and a large multidisciplinary team able to work in any area of dental medicine.

Hugo Madeira
When you were a child, did you dream about dental medicine?
I have always had a special fascination with smiles and the meaning they have in our lives. Today I can confirm that I cannot imagine doing anything else. I live my every working day with the same enthusiasm as I felt on my first day of university, and I feel more and more motivated to help my patients.

How are Portuguese smiles doing?
They are doing much better than they were ten years ago but there is still a great deal of work to be done. Ever since I started working in dentistry, I came to realize that oral health care has never been a priority for many families, which has resulted in the need for them now to undergo more invasive and radical treatments. However, younger generations are now more sensitive to oral health issues, especially when it comes to prevention.
«Technological innovation is one of my favourite areas within dentistry»
When was the Clínica Hugo Madeira – Estética e Implantologia Avançada founded and to what end?
The clinic was founded in 2009 and aims to provide high quality services in the area of health. I have dedicated my life to learning the best techniques that may help my patients to have a level of self-esteem that allows them to conquer the world. I have been putting together a multidisciplinary team that is ready and prepared to treat any patient, whatever they might need.

To what extent is technological innovation important in your day-to-day life?
Technological innovation is one of my favourite areas within dentistry. There is nothing you can do to escape or try to delay technological advances, and from an early age I decided to start arming myself with these tools. At the Clínica Hugo Madeira we have some of the most advanced technology – from intra-oral scanners, to 3D printers, or intelligent anaesthesia systems, etc. These technological advances are much more precise and this benefits everyone’s work, but above all else helps improve the results that our patients will have.

What kind of professional achievements make Hugo Madeira smile?
My intention is to continue my work to see the Hugo Madeira brand present throughout our patients’ lives. My intention is to be able to welcome patients from childhood onwards, welcomed by our paediatric dentist, and to be able to follow their oral health until they reach adulthood. Our mission also includes the constant quest for technical and scientific tools that allow us to continue to provide first-rate care to anyone who comes to us.
