Its first public appearance happened in the Frankfurt Hall, and it anticipated the lines of the new brand’s  first 100% electric model (Volkswagen Group), and the first developed based on the MEB (Modular Electric Toolkit) platform. This is CUPRA Tavascan, CUPRA’S second independent  model, after Formentor (the first model), whose production shall be starting next year. In order to give life to this prototype, there are two electric motors (one on the front axle and the other on the rear) that offer 306 hp (225 kW) of power. Being able to reach from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds, Tavascan has a battery with 77 kWh capacity that offers an autonomy of 450 km, this according to the WLTP cycle. The WLTP, or Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles Test procedure, defines a global standard for determining CO2 levels, pollutant emissions, fuel consumption or energy, and autonomy light for vehicles. According to Wayne Griffiths, CEO of CUPRA, Tavascan «is an impressive concept with which we demonstrate the brand’s great potential».
Frankfurt Hall was also the chosen stage by the Volkswagen group's latest brand to reveal its new ambassador. The chosen one was the Swedish pilot, Mattias Ekström, who will not only lead CUPRA’S electric racing strategy, but also will be the brand’s official pilot to the commands of CUPRA e-Racer.
